What would you do if suddenly your website was gone? You wake up in the morning, check your website, and nothing comes up. You contact your web host, and they tell you the dreaded news – the server has crashed!
All your files, content, images, your database, your customer and user list, everything, vaporized.
What would you do? Have you even thought about this very real possibility?
Recently I had a client call me and a very similar scenario had just happened to them. They had no access to email, and everything was gone. They had no idea what to do.
Luckily, I had recently made a full back up of their files and database, and we were able to restore their website and email that day.
Many Don’t Bother or Even Consider the Possibility
But there are many businesses who do not do routine backups of their website. They either don’t bother, don’t know it’s a very real possibility, or don’t know how to do it. It’s important to have regular backups scheduled, especially if you produce regular content, have an interactive website with a community or an e-commerce website. If your website changes daily, has new customers or users daily, you should consider daily or even hourly backups.
If you’re not scheduling backups, a disaster like this could cripple your business, maybe even permanently destroy it.
Give us a call or drop us an email if you have concerns about your data and need help scheduling routine backups.
